The Farber Center for Radiation Oncology

Come join the Farber Center for Radiation Oncology for ROCKS AGAINST CANCER, a fundraising event for the Entertainment Industry Foundation, benefiting EIF Cancer Programs. ROCKS AGAINST CANCER is hosted by Emmy award-winning actor, musician, and author John Lithgow and takes place Thursday, September 16, 2010 under the magnificent 60-foot gothic ceilings of the Angel Orensanz Foundation for the Arts. This 1849 synagogue, modeled after the Cathedral of Cologne, is perhaps best known as the site of the 1997 wedding of Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick. The evening includes performances by the Todd Wolfe Band, as well as Eclectic Method. Todd Wolfe is world-renowned as a soulful songwriter with jaw-dropping guitar skills. Todd's songs have been covered by a diverse range of artists such as Deborah Coleman, Larry McCray, Faith Hill & Stevie Nicks. Eclectic Method features London natives Jonny Wilson, Ian Edgar and Geoff Gamlen, pioneers in the art of audio-visual mixing. The evening culminates with a silent auction of jewelry by Stephen Webster — three-time winner of the “British Luxury Jeweller of the Year” award and 2008 winner of “UK Jewellery Brand of the Year” — and includes specially designed bracelets supporting the fight against cancer, with net proceeds benefiting EIF's cancer programs. Webster is widely known as the jeweler to the stars; his celebrity client list includes Madonna, Elizabeth Taylor, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Cattrall, and Christina Aguilera, among others. A diverse cocktail menu with hand-picked culinary tastings from around the globe will be served throughout the evening, along with open bars on multiple levels. If you are arriving from out of town please contact the Smyth (part of the Thompson Hotels group) at 85 West Broadway phone: 212.587.7000. We have reserved rooms at a special rate under the group name Rocks Against Cancer. For more information on Rocks Against Cancer or on sponsorship opportunities, please contact Tanya Tohill-Farber, tanya@thefarbercenter.com. Some of EIF's cancer programs include: Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), Woman's Cancer Research Fund, Brains on Bikes, Right Action for Women, and the National Colorectal Research Alliance. A special thanks to our current sponsors: Stephen Webster, Matthew Robbins Designs, Svedka, Warren Tricomi, Elekta Inc., Nucletron, Vitaquest, Toshiba, Lighthouse Beauty, Wines That Rock, Surgem, Life Pharmacy, and Rader and Associates.
